Jacinth Tan, PhD

Principal Investigator

Jacinth is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Singapore Management University, School of Social Sciences. She received her PhD in Social-Personality Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She went on to pursue a postdoctoral training in social psychophysiology at the University of California, San Francisco, Center for Health & Community. Jacinth studies how individuals' socioeconomic backgrounds shape the way they think, feel, and relate to others. She also examines how socioeconomic stresses can affect psychological and physiological responses that underlie socioeconomic gaps in achievement, health and well-being. Outside of research, Jacinth is an aspiring pastry chef and a corgi-lover.

Bek Wuay Tang, MSc

Doctoral Candidate

Bek Wuay is a PhD candidate at the Singapore Management University. At the moment, Bek Wuay is working on her dissertation investigating how person-job fit and different self-perceptions contribute to work burnout. She also studies why people from different countries differ in their accuracy of social mobility perception in their countries and socioeconomic inequalities in well-being. She hopes that her work can eventually inform interventions or policies to improve societies and generate greater well-being for individuals. In her free time, Bek Wuay likes to listen to podcasts and admire cute animals on Instagram.

Faith Amanda Wee

Lab Manager

Faith is a fresh graduate of Singapore Management University, with a degree in Social Science. She has a keen interest in understanding how social psychological forces influence individuals across a variety of domains, including political participation, immoral behaviour, gender discrimination and environmental action. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, gaming, spending time with her family and caring for her pet maltipoo.

Tricia Tok

Master's Student

Tricia is a second-year Master's student at Singapore Management University. Her undergraduate studies in Economics and Psychology, with a specialisation in Health Economics and Management, have piqued her interest in the rigour of research. She is open to exploring various issues intertwined with social and health aspects, including but not limited to environmental behaviour, creativity, human factors design, education, and culture. With a passion for people, she hopes to use research knowledge and skills to produce valuable findings that positively impact others' lives in more practical ways. Her hobbies include travelling, fixing puzzles, volunteering, and cycling!

Amos Tai

Master's Student

Amos is a second-year Master's student at Singapore Management University, majoring in Psychology and Organisational Behaviour & Human Resources. He has a keen interest in understanding how social forces influence individuals and in turn shapes their health and well-being. He is also involved with several other groups exploring the areas of applied psychology, talent acquisition, decision making, and mindfulness. During his free time, he enjoys reading fantasy novels over a cup of hot tea and recording music covers.

Benjamin is a final year student at Singapore Management University, majoring in Psychology and Health Economics and Management. He is keen to understand how interventional methods and underlying psychological principles shape people to lead better and healthier lifestyles. In his free time, he enjoys catching up on the latest k-dramas and discovering new cycling tracks.

Hui Ping Sui

Research Assistant

Hui Ping is a rising third-year student at Singapore Management University taking on Psychology and Marketing with analytics. She is interested in how socioeconomic factors and generational trauma affects a child’s development be it their cognition, behaviours, or their social life. She seeks to better understand the possible sociocultural forces that influence certain maladaptive behaviours. In her spare time, she loves to do art [eg., painting, clay making, sewing, etc], volunteering, hanging out with her loved ones.

Shadichha is a third-year student, majoring in Psychology, at Singapore Management University. She is interested by how optimism can shape one's perspective and affect various aspects of their mental and physical health. She spends her free time working out, watching movies, and reading.

Justyn is a third-year student at Singapore Management University majoring in Psychology and Marketing. He is primarily interested in exploring how differences in daily experience relate to differences in cognitive functioning and well-being in people. During his free time, he enjoys catching up on Netflix shows, finding great hawker food, playing frisbee with his friends, or spending time with his family.
